UTA Responds to Sonoma County’s Regulation of Nonjudicial Foreclosure
- Members Asked to Contact Sonoma County Board of Supervisors -

In a recent eNews story, UTA reported that over the holidays, the County of Sonoma, Real Estate Division, announced that effective March 1, 2010, the County will no longer allow trustee’s sales to be conducted at 575 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa, CA (the County’s Administration Building) or on any other County-owned property. For over 15 years, the County has permitted trustee’s sales and postponements to be cried at the current County-owned location. This change in policy will have a major impact on previously noticed trustee’s sales and postponed sales, and will result in numerous republications, mailings and postings. The County’s change in policy will have a negative impact on borrowers, lenders, third party bidders,
the default services industry, the County of Sonoma, and its residents
and businesses.

UTA’s Counsel, Phil Adleson, has written to the County’s Real Estate Manager, County Counsel and to the entire County Board of Supervisors, on behalf of UTA, requesting that the County reconsider - or at least postpone - the implementation date until the County meets with UTA. This letter points out a number of problems arising from the County’s change in policy.
