In Memoriam: Phil Frink

After a long bout with cancer, our friend and colleague Phil Frink passed away in December. Phil served on the UTA Board from 2005-2008. Phil was one of UTA’s first active members from Nevada, and was the Association’s first Board member from Nevada. He provided much support and input during the Association’s early outreach to engage members in Nevada, including coordinating the Association’s first dinner event in Nevada. He was also instrumental in coordinating the Association’s opposition to legislation in Nevada and in drafting language to that legislation that protected and served trustees.

Phil was also a board member of Jua Kali Ministries, an organization with two orphanages in Kenya. He traveled to Africa every year to visit the orphanages, one of which cared for 70 orphans due to the proliferation of Aids in Kenya. Phil was also an Officer of the Court for the Second Judicial District of Washoe County – a Court appointed Special Advocate – where he represented neglected and abused children.

After a long career with Stewart Title of Northern Nevada, Phil formed “Phil Frink & Associates”. His wife, Linda, now runs the company.

In an interview with UTA Quarterly in 2005, Phil noted that he was proud to have “the honor of being on the Board of Directors for UTA.”

Phil Frink was a compassionate man who will be missed by all who knew him.
