Several UTA Events are approaching including a just-announced Texas Foreclosure 101 course, to be taught in Houston on August 15th. A summary of the upcoming events follows:
April 24th, Thursday, (6:00 pm – 8:00 pm) - UTA’s California lobbyist, Michael Belote, Esq., will speak at a dinner event at the Embassy Suites in Santa Ana, California. Mike will report on the California legislature’s response to the rise in defaults and foreclosures and specifically the introduction of a comprehensive package of foreclosure reforms impacting non-judicial foreclosure as well as legislation that affects Trustee’s Sale Guarantees.

May 14th, Wednesday (6:00 pm – 8:00 pm) - UTA’s Corporate Counsel, Phillip M. Adleson, Esq., Adleson, Hess & Kelly, will speak at a dinner event at the Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills. Phil will report on several interesting developments occurring this year, including: city ordinances that place the burden on trustees to inspect and maintain properties during foreclosure; the California legislature’s response to the rise in defaults and foreclosures; and State legislation that affects TSGs.

June 18th, (Wednesday) (10:00 am – 4:00 pm) - UTA will offer the California Intermediate (Level II) Foreclosure Certification Course and one-hour open book exam in Orange County. There will be a break for lunch.
Course instructors are Phillip M. Adleson, Esq., of Adleson, Hess & Kelly, and Ronald D. Roup, Esq., of Roup & Associates. In order to sit for UTA’s California Intermediate Foreclosure Certification Exam (Level 2), members must pass the California Basic Foreclosure Exam (Level I). The Intermediate (Level II) Foreclosure Certification Course Syllabus includes; complex foreclosures including multiple notes, multiple deeds of trust, cross-default clauses, mixed collateral loans, mechanics liens, IRS liens, special federal liens, special issues at the sale, forbearance or workout agreements and Bankruptcy (in more depth than required for basic certification).
July 12th, (Saturday) 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – The three-hour California Foreclosure 101 course will be taught in San Diego and covers basic industry terminology; what foreclosure is; and what information the lender provides, and why. After taking the course, attendees will have an understanding of all phases in the trustee’s timeline. The course reviews and provides samples of relevant documents as well as basic information concerning TSGs and other title issues.
Course Instructors are Randy Fernando, Orange Coast Title and Randy Newman, National Foreclosure Service.

August 15th, (Friday) 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm - The Texas Foreclosure 101 course will be taught in Houston and will cover industry terms, loan documents, the foreclosure timeline, Texas non-judicial foreclosure flow chart and other issues designed for employees who are new in the default/foreclosure industry in Texas.
Course instructors are Jim DeLoach, Esq., of Butler & Hosch and Mary M. Speidel, Esq., of Codilis & Stawiarksi.
