CLARIFICATION CONCERNING SB 1375

In a recent edition of UTA eNews, UTA reported that Senator Ellen Corbett, the author of SB 1375 has decided not to move forward with the bill this year. UTA members will recall that SB 1375 proposes to permit reimbursement of costs of a title search product as an alternative to a trustee’s sale guarantee. In the news item, we reported that a hearing had been conducted on the bill in the state Senate.

Senator Corbett’s office has confirmed that passage of SB 1375 will not be pursued this year. However, we would like to clarify that no hearings were conducted on the bill, which was pulled from the Senate Judiciary Committee calendar at the request of the author. We regret any confusion caused by the news item.
